The Waist Bead Guide
Waist beads are more than adornment… they’re something you feel.
Rooted in African tradition, they carry meaning, intention, and self-expression… worn close as a quiet reminder of your beauty, your energy, and your story.
For generations, waist beads have marked life transitions, celebrated femininity, and held deep cultural significance.
Today, they are worn for many reasons… self-love, body awareness, spiritual grounding, or simply personal expression.
Whether worn beneath clothing or styled to be seen, waist beads are a reflection of identity… a connection to your roots… and a celebration of you.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR WAIST BEADS
Follow these steps to find your perfect fit:
1. Decide where you want your waist beads to sit
Choose the exact spot on your body where you want them to rest:
-
high waist
-
natural waist
-
across the belly button
-
low on the hips
2. Stand naturally
Stand relaxed… don’t suck in or pull too tight. You want your true measurement.
3. Use a soft measuring tape
Wrap the tape around the area where you want your beads to sit.
4. Make sure the tape is level
Ensure it’s straight all the way around… not dipping in the back or rising in the front.
5. Measure to your comfort
Hold the tape the way you want your beads to fit:
-
snug for a close fit
-
slightly loose for a relaxed feel
6. Read the number carefully
Write down your exact measurement in inches.
7. Do not add extra inches
Order the exact measurement unless the product description says otherwise.
8. Double-check your measurement
Measure one more time… just to be sure.
Helpful Tip
If you are ordering tie-on waist beads, your measurement is flexible… they come in longer lengths so you can adjust them to your body.
For clasp waist beads, your measurement matters more… they do not stretch, so be sure to choose a size that allows a comfortable fit with a little room to move.

HOW TO TIE YOUR WAIST BEADS
Step 1: Find your fit
Wrap the beads around your waist where you want them to sit. Adjust until you’re comfortable.
Step 2: Slide off excess beads
Hold where the beads meet and slide any extra beads toward the ends. Leave about 3–5 inches of string on each side.
Step 3: Tie securely
Tie 3–5 tight knots to ensure they stay in place.
Step 4: Trim the excess thread
Leave a small amount of thread on each side of the knot.
Step 5: Seal the ends
Carefully use heat (like a lighter) to melt and seal the thread slightly.
Step 6: Smooth the ends (optional)
While still warm (not hot), gently roll the ends between your fingers to smooth them.
Step 7: Final check
Make sure everything feels secure… and you’re done.
WAIST BEAD CARE
Cleaning
Rinse gently with mild soap and dry thoroughly.
Keep in mind
Some beads may fade over time with exposure to water, oils, or friction. This will be noted in the product description when applicable.
Be careful
Avoid pulling or tugging… this can weaken or break your waist beads.
